Janine holds a B.Com Accounting degree from the University of the North West. Her passion for projects ignited when she left private practice in 2007 to join one of the world’s largest Platinum Mines as a Project Accountant. She had the opportunity to work with Greenfields and Brownfields project teams.
While working in the Platinum mines, she gained experience in compliance management of complex multiple year projects, the asset management and asset master data maintenance on SAP. Monthly project status updates were presented to the Board members and project detail had to be available for five years.
Hungry for further development, she joined a Manganese Mine in 2010 as an Investment Management Specialist. Apart from governing the planning, execution, and closeouts of projects within their capital portfolio she equipped herself with further knowledge of financial evaluations (NPV calculations) and commercial awards.
The Capital portfolio of this company grew to such an extent that they required an individual who specialised in projects across their operations. An opportunity arose in 2011, for her to be appointed as Project Control Specialist. She upskilled herself with formal training on Business Analysis, Microsoft Projects and Cost Engineering and in 2014 she obtained her PMP (Professional Manager of Projects) certification from the International Project Management Institution. Her in-depth knowledge then constructively influenced the time and cost outcomes of projects.
Janine’s combination of accounting and project controls allows her to be excellent in strategic planning and decision making. She fully understands the importance of effective project delivery and how this will influence business objectives, maintenance philosophies and the cash position of a large company. And how the project controls applied in the portfolio/project programs of a company will minimise the gap between the planning and execution of projects and in return, the company will benefit from capital efficiency.
